Dove/Unilever Bring Self-Esteem Project to BGCC
SMART Girls from 4 different Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago (Pedersen-McCormick, Valentine, Little Village, and True Vale) recently participated in the Dove/Unilever Self-Esteem Project. Girls ages 8-13 participated in exercises to help influence their perception of beauty all while helping to boost their confidence and self-esteem. The girls spoke about the importance of loving yourself and not allowing others to dictate their self-worth. The members had an open discussion on TLC’s "Unpretty" video, created self-esteem collages, wrote their Beauty Stories, and much more. Toward the end of the event, the girls danced, socialized, ate pizza, and some walked away with raffle prizes. The event was a complete success. Our thanks to Dove and Unilever for their support.

"The event gave the girls the opportunity to learn that they’re not alone in terms of their insecurities and that they were able to express themselves in an artistic way by doing their vision boards in which they’ve never done. At the end, the girls came out with better self-esteem" -Roxana Delgado, Volunteer, Little Village Club
