When is enough enough? A message from BGCC President Mimi LeClair
It’s been less than two weeks since Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago employee Darnell Hardeman had his life cut tragically short due to yet another act of senseless violence in the City of Chicago. And while the pain of his absence may slowly subside, the anger we feel over losing one of our own to gun violence is still very much present in our hearts and our minds.
 
Congratulations to the BGCC Woman's Board on the most successful Summer Ball yet!
This May, our Woman's Board hosted their 2016 Summer Ball (Dream BIG) at the Chicago Hilton and Towers. The evening was a celebration all of our Club members, both past and present, and their dreams to reach their full potential and do amazing things.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago recently joined forces with more than 100,000 Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families and friends as part of Comcast Cares Day, the largest single-day corporate volunteer event in the country.

Science Comes to Life at Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago

Chicago youth are polishing their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills, through a partnership between Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and Exelon Corporation. To celebrate the partnership, the James R. Jordan Boys & Girls Club is hosting a STEM expo, where 50 youth from the Jordan and Little Village Clubs will be guided by volunteers and a team of “ComEd Ignitors” in fun science experiments.​

BGCC Announces New President and CEO

Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago has appointed a new President and CEO, Mimi LeClair. Mimi joins BGCC after a 24-year career at the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago, where she recently served as Vice President of Advancement. Her passion and enthusiasm for providing resources to youth in Chicago will help further BGCC's impact and outreach across the city.

On March 8, 2016, Eve House of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Club was named the 2016 Youth of the Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago.
 
Tyson Foods, Inc. Awards $40,000 Healthy Habits Grant

Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago will use the $40,000 Tyson Foods grant to enhance existing programming and target three Clubs in high-need communities: East Garfield Park (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Club), Near West Side (James Jordan Club), and Washington Heights/West Pullman (Morgan Park Club). All three clubs serve residents who live in food deserts in communities with a high incidence of obesity. ​
