The Arts

These programs help young people enhance self-expression and creativity, develop multicultural appreciation, provide exposure to and develop skills in crafts and visual, performing and literary arts:

Photography – Our members learn various forms of photography, from navigating a dark room to manipulating digital photos on a computer. In this program, members can see how the use of light, depth and angles can capture time and communicate a message. Local youths learn how to use computers to enhance and manipulate images in color or black and white. Members also have the opportunity to submit their photographs for national competitions hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Fine Arts – Our skilled art instructors teach young people how to express themselves through drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and mixed media. Kids also have the opportunity to display their artwork before submitting them to national Boys & Girls Clubs of America competition.

Textiles – From hand puppets to prom dresses, young people are learning the fundamentals of textiles and sewing. Members learn to knit, crochet, sew and design clothes.
