Thank you for making 2016 a year to remember!
2016 was a year to remember for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago.
Our very own 2016 Youth of the Year Eve Houser delivered the game ball at Game 4 of the World Series with the help of former Cubs ace Mark Prior.
Earlier in the year, we crowned Eve our 2016 Youth of the Year at our annual Youth of the Year Gala at Navy Pier. Eve also went on to be named the Illinois Youth of the Year. Congrats, Eve!
Our Valentine Club cut the ribbon on a new learning lounge thanks to JC Penny. The lounge features brand new technology and accommodations to help keep the kids at their best and brightest.
We hosted our annual flag football tournament in the fall with the help of Buffalo Wild Wings. Congratulations to the Pedersen-McCormick Club on bringing home the championship!
As part of our Club STEM program, 115 members from ten of our Clubs spent the day at the Jordan Club for a fun day of learning thanks to the Driskill Foundation. Activities included a science fair, an interactive science demonstration and a bridge building competition.
Our King Club honored NBA superstar and Chicago native Jahlil Okafor for his work in giving back to Chicago's neighborhoods at their annual King Legacy Gala.
Members at our Logan Square Club celebrated the opening of their newly-renovated gym by shooting hoops with NBA superstar Chris Paul. His foundation, along with NBA Cares and State Farm, were responsible for the new facility.
True Value Club members got an inside look at the True Value manufacturing facility in Cary, where they spent the day having fun with hands-on learning.
A group of our members were treated to a tour of the Comcast Sports Net studio in Chicago. They got a behind the scenes look at how live television is produced and also met some of the CSN on air personalities.
Members at our Jordan Club watched their summers take flight as they built and launched their own rockets as part of their summer Science Club.
Our kids had the chance to take in some live college basketball with the DePaul Blue Demons.
Members also spent the summer learning how to stay safe while having fun in the pool thanks to our annual ZAC Camp at our Valentine Club.
Our SMART Girls members held their annual SMART Girls Summit, spending the day learning about healthy attitudes and lifestyles, eating right, staying fit, getting good health care and more.
And our Passport to Manhood members also held their annual Passport to Manhood Summit, engaging them in discussions and activities that reinforce character, leadership and positive behavior.
But none of this would have been possible without your support. It's because of you that 2016 was a year our kids will always remember. So, on behalf of the nearly 10,000 members across Chicago, thank you. Here's to an even bigger and better 2017!
