Volunteer Spotlight - Gina Trimarco

Gina Trimarco has been a Girl Scouts Troop Leader at the True Value Boys & Girls Club of Chicago for almost 7 years. In 2010, Gina visited the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana office and asked how she could become a troop leader in a neighborhood that needed support. Gina learned the organization was trying to launch a Girl Scouts troop at a Boys & Girls Club of Chicago location in the Little Village community.
"As a child, I was a member of Girls Scouts and continued my passion for mentoring and developing leadership skills, courage, and character in young girls by serving as a troop leader shortly after college. As a working professional, I wanted to get involved with Girl Scouts again and I knew there were neighborhoods in Chicago where I could introduce girl scouting to young girls in the city."

The Girl Scouts program at the True Value Club meets regularly every Monday afternoon during the school year and works with up to twenty young girls ranging from the 2nd-8th grade. During the one hour meetings, Gina works with the Girl Scouts on crafts, cooking, confidence or self-esteem boosting activities, and other programs to achieve a badge.

"I think the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago offers such a fabulous opportunity for our youth and they receive such tremendous support and value for being part of the programming. It is a welcoming place where they can do so many cool things."

It is because of dedicated volunteers like Gina that Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago is able to accomplish our mission. We sincerely thank Gina and the hundreds of other volunteers across the organization that serve in a variety of capacities for their service and commitment.
