BOB HOWARD - PRESIDENT & CEO

Robert Howard was appointed President and CEO of the Chicago organization in March 2004. His passion for Boys & Girls Clubs began when he walked into a Boys & Girls Club as a young boy growing up on Chicago's south side. The guidance of caring adult professionals at the Club coupled with fun activities that instilled in him the values of teamwork and service made a lifelong impression on him.

These same values contributed to Bob's 30 years of leadership at national retail chains, including Payless Shoe Source and Sav-On Drugs, which is a division of Osco Drug. As the Division Senior Vice President at Payless Shoe Source, Bob was responsible for $600 million in sales and 1,200 stores.

Bob served in the United States Air Force and is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Masters of Arts from Roosevelt University.

He is an active member of several civic institutions including the Capital Improvement Advisory Committee of the City of Chicago; the Board of Directors of the Harvard Business School Club of Chicago; and the Foundation Board of Directors of Chicago State University.

Still, Bob never forgot about his Boys & Girls Club experience as a young person and has remained an active part of the organization throughout his life. He served as president of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors on Chicago's west side and was a member of the Corporate Board of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago prior to being President and CEO.
